The Regional Alliance of INBRE Networks (RAIN) was formed to support regional collaborations focused on common scientific themes. Opportunities exist for undergraduate students from the region to participate in transformative research experiences in the RAIN states. Individual INBRE Programs within RAIN host expertise-specific student programs, such as lab fellowships, workshops, and summer camps.
Students from RAIN states (Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Wyoming) interested in visiting and working in Nevada may apply for a 2021 RAIN Undergraduate Research Student Exchange in Nevada at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas or the University of Nevada, Reno.
The Nevada INBRE Program is offering a 10-week fellowship for students interested in biomedical research. In addition to doing guided research, students will attend training and seminar presentations and present their work at an undergraduate research symposium. Selected applicants will be matched with an appropriate faculty mentor to complete a project.
DETAILS OF THE PROGRAM
Program Dates: The program dates will vary slightly depending on whether you are at UNLV or UNR, but generally run from mid-June to early August.
Undergraduate Research Poster Session Dates: TBD August 2021
Pay: up to $6000 for the summer (paid as hourly wage over the working dates of the program)
How to Apply:
- Complete a personal statement that should address a) your academic background, b) scientific interests, c) any past research experience, and d) what you hope to gain from the research experience. Do not exceed two pages.
- Attach your unofficial transcript to your personal statement to upload to the application.
- Identify 2 references and provide their contact information in the application form. The application will automatically send them a link to the reference form to fill out. All references need to be submitted directly by the author by the application deadline. Your references will not receive the link to the reference form until your application is fully submitted. Please be sure to allow enough time for your references to complete the reference form by the application deadline.
- Complete and submit the NV INBRE/Regional Alliance of INBRE Networks (RAIN) Undergraduate Research Student Exchange Application by February 28, 2021 at 11:59 PM.
