Alaska offers access to two of their cores: Community-Based Participatory Research and Data Science Core/Research Analytics Core. With three participating core facilities: Alaska Genomics Facility and Analytical Center for Chemical Analysis. Additionally, Students from other states will be able to engage in a 10-week research program at UA campuses, ANTHC, or in Utqiaġvik, AK, focusing on One Health-related fields and receiving virtual training in biomedical research, career development, and research ethics, with opportunities for further career development and participation in the ANTHC Alaska Indigenous Research Program.

FiRE program

Students will embark on a 10-week biomedical or behavioral research journey at UA campuses, ANTHC, or in Utqiaġvik, AK, with support from UIC Science. They will kick off with a 3-day virtual introduction, crafting mentoring contracts and diving into research methods, ethics, and career goals, followed by nine weeks of project work and virtual career development workshops. The experience concludes with research presentations at virtual conferences, with opportunities for further career development and participation in the ANTHC Alaska Indigenous Research Program if suitable.
